Daniel's First Father's Day

It was a beautiful first Father's Day. We had dinner at Erin and Jason's after going to church to hear Daniel's boss and his wife speak. They've been called to be mission presidents in Mexico City.
Sophie loves her daddy. There is not a man on Earth that holds a candle to him. He can make her smile just by walking in the door. He is even starting to distract her from nursing just by being in the room. She will just watch him walk around the apartment.

**A shout-out to Daniel: He's been working out and we've both been eating healthier and he has lost almost thirty pounds. He looks amazing!

I made this lovely onesie for Daniel after some inspiration I found on Pinterest...It may be the coolest thing I have ever made.

Sophie has become a pro at standing. If we prop her up just right she will just stand at the couch all by herself. She may walk before she crawls...
Daddy and daughter do enjoy watching baseball together.

Daniel took some pictures of Sophie and I playing at the park. We tried going swimming at the pool--but it was reserved for some birthday party. We will have to try again sometime.

Five Months

With everything that's been going on and having everyone here visiting, five months snuck up from out of nowhere. Sophie showed off her attempts at rolling over while we took pictures.

She has also mastered ripped her headband off her head. She has become quite the chatterbox and she yells and screams to herself mostly when no one is paying attention to her, so riding in the car is very entertaining for us now.

She's happy as ever. And drools like crazy--no sign of teeth, but lots and lots of drool.

Happy Baby, Happy Mom

Staying at home is becoming increasingly easier. I've fallen into an agreeable schedule and the good weather helps too. I still want to work on developing some new hobbies and such. I'm working part-time for my mom's office from home which is pretty much the best kinda job you could ask for.

I put Sophie in the Bumbo chair and she managed to flip the tray all the way off. So talented.

26 & 5

Daniel happens to share his birthday with his niece Ally. She had a perfectly princess birthday and they shared the evenings festivities. I gave Daniel a somewhat Viking themed birthday. I made him an ice cream cake that was delicious and decorated with Danish flags.

I didn't get any pictures of Daniel opening presents because I was feeding Sophie, but he got some great stuff, including tickets to the Pirates vs. Rangers game for our trip to Texas in September from my mom.
Blowing out the candles was a co-op moment, but very cute.

Jensen Family Pictures

We took the opportunity while everyone was here to try to capture some niece and nephew cuteness. For having ten squirmy kids I was impressed we got at least one decent one. Our attempts outside didn't work very well--kids crying about the sun, crawling away, etc. Sophie was as perfect as a four month old could be.
I had to share the best of the worst. They are all so dang cute. Then we snapped up some family shots.

We are all a pretty good lookin' bunch.

Too Cute for Words

Have I mentioned how awesome our baby girl is lately? She really is such a good girl. She slept through the night for almost two weeks, but we are back to getting up once or twice. She is as happy as can be. Just yesterday Daniel met me over at his sister's house and Sophie had not seen him all day. I've never seen her so excited to see someone. She giggled and smiled and wiggled with joy for fifteen minutes after he got there. She couldn't get enough of him.
Cousin Stella and Sophie are the closest in age right now (new baby girl cousins are on the way!) Sure they don't play together so great at this age...but they will some day. Stella does seem interested in Sophie. One day she crawled up to Sophie and gave her a hug and then another hug--it was priceless--and then she poked her in the eye. We've been less trusting since, but she still is super cute.

Randomly for a few days, a peahen (a female version of a peacock--science lesson of the day) hung out around Daniel's parent's house. It was pretty cool. I think it may have escaped from the zoo, but I guess we'll never know.
Daniel's sister Erin let us try out their bouncer with Sophie. She loves it. She hung out in it for at least thirty minutes the first time. I'm glad she finally likes playing with toys. I was beginning to fear she was just plain bored with life.

Four Month Stats

Sophie finally had her four month check-up and her numbers are:
26 inches long (90%)
14 lbs. 12 oz. (50%)

She hated the shots with every fiber of her little being. She did fine afterwards though. We've had a couple odd nights of sleep, but we are doing better now.

Sophie has now discovered her toes--which is helping her figure out how to roll over to her tummy. She has gotten really close, but just can't pick up that head of hers. Just yesterday she started blowing bubbles intentionally and its super cute. She ends up covered in spit. She gets chattier and chattier every day. She is still a super happy girl that her older cousins love to play with.
