Two Month Stats

Sophie had her two month appointment (although she was nine weeks, almost ten weeks old) last week. I was nervous all week about the shots. She got all red in the face and cried pretty hard for a few minutes, but spent most of the evening and the next day sleeping. Yes, I cried too, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Here are her two month stats:
Height: 23.75 in [91%]
Weight: 11 lbs. 5 oz. [43.5%]

A tall, skinny girl. Anyone surprised? She is starting to gain a little chub on her legs and in her face which is the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Unfortunately Sophie is already mesmerized by the TV. Even if we turn her away, if she has already caught sight of the TV she is stuck. We will try to avoid that.

Nighttime is getting better. She wakes up about two to three times a night. Sometimes I have to work a little bit harder to get her back to sleep {two hours of coaxing...}, but at least half the time things go fairly smoothly.

I have now conquered three rounds of mastitis. I feel very special to have had that pleasure repeatedly. Despite so many trials, we are still breastfeeding successfully. I felt compelled to continue to press forward. After what I've been through, it really couldn't get worse so we pressed on! Things are much better now and I pray they continue to be. I have learned quite a bit and know that it has been worth the hassle.

Bundle of Joy

I try to be good and put Sophie on her belly a little bit each day, but it usually turns into eat-the-blanket time.
We will keep working on that.
I had a thought the other day: my friend and I were discussing how much our lives have changed since we had babies. We laughed at people who post things online about preparing for newborns because (ourselves included) you don't know anything until it happens. I started thinking how "happiness" has changed for me. Yes, I am happy. And yes, I am exhausted, always cleaning up poop and spit up, and I don't always get a shower. It is a different kind of happy. It isn't the giddy, jump up and down happy. It's quieter, more subtle, and humbling. It is a fulfilling, deeper happiness.

My role has changed significantly as well. For the past year, I worked non-stop (and almost always have) and now I stay at home all day. I am grateful to Daniel for making this part of my life possible, but it is different than anything I've ever done before. Here's to new challenges, finding a hobby, and being motivated to put on make-up once in a while.

Here she is on her two month birthday! And she's huge!
She really is such a happy girl. Considering what a colicky baby I was, I feel very grateful to have a smiling little babe.

She loves her swing. Lately she has discovered that she can see her reflection on the bottom of the mobile and it is very entertaining for her.

Eight Weeks Old

We've hit two whole months! I would now say it takes two months to fully recover and get a grasp on life after having a baby. And I know that now that I say that she will throw some sort of curve ball at us, but that's life.
We got Sophie all dolled up for church at our new ward, only to discover we went to the wrong ward and the wrong building.

Next week is Sophie's two month doctor's appointment so will be able to see how much our baby has grown!

Smiles

I read Sophie a French bedtime story the other night. Pretty sure she liked it because she was nearly asleep by the end.

Sophie loves kisses. They are the best way to get smiles out of her.

She is growing so much! She is our beautiful girl!

Blessing Day

We blessed Sophie at church this past Sunday. Her Grandma Jensen bought her a beautiful outfit.

Our Growing Girl

Things are starting to mellow out around here. Sophie and I are settling into a schedule which makes things slightly more predictable. However, I am exhausted. I don't know if that will ever change though. Last week we moved out of my parents' house and into our new place. It's nice to be in our own space. Spencer bought Sophie a dress in Nicaragua for church. I found out that getting myself and a baby ready for church is almost more exhausting than it is worth.
I cannot get enough playtime with this baby. She has the most kissable cheeks that are getting increasingly chubby and can give me the biggest smiles. One night at three in the morning or so, while I bounced her trying to will her back to sleep, she looked me straight in the eyes and gave me a big smile. Moments like that make all the hard work worth it.
Sophie is blessed to have two sets of grandparents that cannot get enough of her. Every time we visit it becomes a contest to see who can get the biggest smiles out of her

We get smiles from kisses and funny noises. Slowly we are getting Sophie to make noises back to us.
She is discovering her tongue and boy is it long!
I feel the impulse to keep her bundled up because it is so cold here and her hands and toes get cold. I cannot wait for summer.
Uncle Spencer adores Sophie and she seems to like him too. For a while he was my assistant when I had to suck boogers out of our poor congested girl. She hates it tremendously, but always seems pleasantly surprised when she can breath again.

Sophie really is a great little baby. She doesn't fuss much unless she is hungry and sometimes when she is tired. Right now we are working on going to bed instead of wanting to stay up and play.
