Tautphaus Park had an Earth Day celebration today. It was a beautiful day for Sophie's first real outing. She got some sun, saw the sights, and was such a good girl the entire day.
We had Daniel's sister Erin snap some family shots since I realize 90% of our pictures are of just Sophie. It's nice to have proof that we are still around too.

Three Months
Little Squirt laughed out loud today. Of course it was her daddy that coaxed it out of her. They are pretty good buds. Happy three months Sophie!

Rollie Pollie Ollie
Our smiley girl is almost three months old! She is sleeping great at night--usually only waking up around 4 am and then at 7 or 8. A few times she has slept 9 hours or more. I'm pretty impressed. Now the trick is for me to be able to sleep through the night. I can't because I'm either irrationally panicking about the baby or I have to get up to pump. Oh the joys.
This General Conference weekend Sophie decided to be amazing and roll over at Grandma Jensen's house. She has done it twice since. {Mostly she gets to her side and flops to her back}
It's amazing how exciting such a simple act is, but anything this baby does is amazing to me.
Sophie still likes to stare at the TV, so she will just snuggle up to you while watch TV. This girl is so smiley is it ridiculous. All you have to do is smile at her and she gets so excited. I don't think babies come much happier than she.

Spring has Sprung
We are very excited {can't you tell??} that it has been so warm and lovely outside! Sophie and I have already gone on multiple walks and couldn't be happier to get out of the house.
Our girl is happy as ever. She still doesn't quite giggle. She just smiles really big and coos. I'm sure giggles are just around the corner.

Two Month Stats
Sophie had her two month appointment (although she was nine weeks, almost ten weeks old) last week. I was nervous all week about the shots. She got all red in the face and cried pretty hard for a few minutes, but spent most of the evening and the next day sleeping. Yes, I cried too, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Here are her two month stats:
Here are her two month stats:
Height: 23.75 in [91%]
Weight: 11 lbs. 5 oz. [43.5%]
A tall, skinny girl. Anyone surprised? She is starting to gain a little chub on her legs and in her face which is the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Unfortunately Sophie is already mesmerized by the TV. Even if we turn her away, if she has already caught sight of the TV she is stuck. We will try to avoid that.
Nighttime is getting better. She wakes up about two to three times a night. Sometimes I have to work a little bit harder to get her back to sleep {two hours of coaxing...}, but at least half the time things go fairly smoothly.
I have now conquered three rounds of mastitis. I feel very special to have had that pleasure repeatedly. Despite so many trials, we are still breastfeeding successfully. I felt compelled to continue to press forward. After what I've been through, it really couldn't get worse so we pressed on! Things are much better now and I pray they continue to be. I have learned quite a bit and know that it has been worth the hassle.

Bundle of Joy
I try to be good and put Sophie on her belly a little bit each day, but it usually turns into eat-the-blanket time.
We will keep working on that.
I had a thought the other day: my friend and I were discussing how much our lives have changed since we had babies. We laughed at people who post things online about preparing for newborns because (ourselves included) you don't know anything until it happens. I started thinking how "happiness" has changed for me. Yes, I am happy. And yes, I am exhausted, always cleaning up poop and spit up, and I don't always get a shower. It is a different kind of happy. It isn't the giddy, jump up and down happy. It's quieter, more subtle, and humbling. It is a fulfilling, deeper happiness.
My role has changed significantly as well. For the past year, I worked non-stop (and almost always have) and now I stay at home all day. I am grateful to Daniel for making this part of my life possible, but it is different than anything I've ever done before. Here's to new challenges, finding a hobby, and being motivated to put on make-up once in a while.
Here she is on her two month birthday! And she's huge!
She really is such a happy girl. Considering what a colicky baby I was, I feel very grateful to have a smiling little babe.
She loves her swing. Lately she has discovered that she can see her reflection on the bottom of the mobile and it is very entertaining for her.
