A Great Grandma Visit

My Grandma Chipman came to visit us this weekend from Texas. I can't believe that she is Sophie's great-grandma, but she really is "great." We spent the weekend window shopping, eating, and walking downtown. Then we ate and shopped some more. My grandma brought Sophie some Minnie Mouse dress up jewelry and these adorable Cinderella dress up heels that light up. I need to get a picture of her in all of them. It's super adorable. She loves those shoes even if she can barely walk in heels.  My brother also came out for the weekend. It was nice to get a big dose of family fun time all in one weekend. Sophie got lots of love and attention. We were also celebrating my mom's 50th birthday which just seems crazy to me. We had fun spoiling her with gifts. My favorite was her reaction to the cooking class Spencer and I bought for her. 

Mostly I feel blessed to be related to such spectacular people. 

Happy Halloween!

I loved this Halloween. Even though yesterday Sophie and I started coming down with different illnesses, I made sure we had enough energy for tonight. Watching those little toddler legs jog up driveways and her little fist knock on each door with all the strength she could muster was the cutest thing I've ever seen. All that sweetness melted my heart over and over. She's adorable.

We never got her to say anything more than "thank you," but we will take it. 

 I made her skirt. It was my first attempt at sewing since Home Ec class. I ripped it apart and re-did it once, but it was a good project for all my emotional baggage to unload on. She loves it and twirls and says, "Minnie!" 

 I decided last minute that I want to dress up too. (I can't believe that I forgot that I love to dress up!) I wore Sophie's ears and tail from last year's costume. 

 At one house they had some spectacular decorations and someone dressed up as a creepy skeleton/zombie that crawled out of the garage to scare people. I made Sophie go give him a hug which she happily obliged. (I don't want her to be scared--just have fun!) 

Sophie's new favorite candy is suckers.

 There are always a hodgepodge of photos leftover that have no rhyme or reason, but capture the sweet and silly sides of our baby.

 We planted two trees in our barren yard. I also planted tulips that I hope show up come spring. 

 Sophie and I went on an adventure and walked all the way to "downtown" Kuna. It took about forty minutes each way and we played at the one park in town. 

 Last weekend we took family photos. The week before was spent shopping every day for coordinating outfits and texting pictures to our photographer. It was extremely stressful and even taking the photos makes me worried that we won't have one picture of all of us smiling and looking at the camera. {I tell you Sophie will sit still for nothing!} There was lots of running after Sophie, jumping out of the frame, and tricking Sophie into smiling and looking at the camera. At one point I got her to stand still while I sang songs from Frozen very poorly and onlookers passed by. Embarrassing, yes, but it worked. I ended up loving our outfits, our photographer, and our location, so now we are dying to see them. The worst thing that happened was Sophie smacking her face with her binky on the way there hard enough to make her gums bleed. *Sigh*

Babysitting

I've started watching two little kids down the street one day a week. They have a little girl who is 14 months and a two month old boy. Sophie loves going over there and for the most part Sophie and Tessa have fun together. Sometimes things look like this:

And this guy is pretty chill. I have a feeling that we are going to be good buddies.
